Checking solar connection

Checking solar connection

If you are getting battery warnings one possible cause for this is that the solar panel charging is not working properly.

The way to check this is to open the top box of the unit and check the solar light on your WIC2 box. If this light is red then there is probably an issue with either the solar panel or the connections.

To check the solar connectivity leads on your unit please follow these steps.

Step 1:
Check the power leads going into the bottom of the WIC2 box. If they all appear well connected to the plug itself is ok, then unplug all the leads that go into the bottom of the box. Remove the power plug first, then the EID and loadbar plugs. Also undo the GPS and Comms leads.

Step 2: You will then need to undo the earth from the box.

Step 3: The 4 screws located on the silver panel then need to be unscrewed.

Step 4: You will then be able to view the solar leads which are located behind this panel.
The red wire is positive and the black wire is negative.
Ensure these are in the right spot and connected properly. They should look like the photo below.
