Understanding shrink in weights from the paddock, to the yards, to the feedlot or to the abattoir is a really important aspect of managing and marketing cattle.

The Optiweigh algorithms are designed to be the same as a very full yard weight - the type of situation that an Auctions Plus assessor might use a 5% discount for to get to empty weight. But even then there can be variations. And while we don't understand yet all the reasons around this variation we do know that the differences can be very consistent when the situation remains similar.

So, in order to help with this we have introduced two initiatives:
1. The ability to upload your yard weight, feedlot or slaughter weights to compare these to your Optiweigh data; and
2. The ability to display an Adjusted weight alongside your Optiweigh in-paddock weight.

1. Uploading Data
On the Session Management screen there is a new button called Upload Weights. This will take you to the upload page. Download the template, fill it in and save it then upload it. We will send you back a weight comparison report.

2. Displaying Adjusted Weights
When setting up a session there is a new option for displaying adjusted weights. Simply select the weight type and your adjustment percentage. The adjusted weights can be seen on the dashboard, the distribution chart and both the individual animal reports.
