Optiweigh units have weigh cells sitting out in a paddock all year round. This can cause mud and dirt to build up on and around the platform.
Some of the common causes of error are:
- Obstructions under or at the side of the platform
- Mud build up under and around the platform - particularly once it dries
- Stones, sticks or big clumps of grass pushing up against the bottom of the platofrm.
To keep it accurate the unit automatically adjusts back to zero whenever there is build up of dirt on the platform - and this amount of adjustment is reported back which gives the display on the website and app:
Green = OK
Yellow = More than 20kg adjustment - the adjustment is still working but the amount is higher than we would normally expect
Red = More than 40kg and the adjustment has stopped working and weights will not be accurate.
Diagnosis process:
1. Clear the mud and dirt away from the load bars and check there are no physical obstructions around the platform.
2. Use the app to do a "Zero"
3. Place a known weight on the platform and check that weight is both correct and stable (the higher the weight the better - your own body weight is ok if you know it reasonably accurately).
4. Repeat step 3 at all of the back, middle and front of the platform.
5. If there is a significant between the front and back check also at the side of each of the front and back.
If the weights do not look right or are not stable please contact us. DO NOT perform a calibration without talking to us first.
